The short answer: The Nike Vaporfly is widely considered the benchmark carbon-plate race shoe in distance running. The Endorphin Speed is a nylon-plate alternative at a lower price point. They are not direct competitors in performance terms — but the Endorphin Speed costs significantly less and is a legitimate race shoe.

The plate difference

Nike Vaporfly: carbon fibre plate and ZoomX foam. The carbon plate is stiffer and more propulsive at race pace. ZoomX is extremely lightweight and highly responsive.

Saucony Endorphin Speed: nylon plate and PWRRUN PB foam. The nylon plate provides propulsion with more flexibility than carbon. PWRRUN PB is responsive and cushioned but not the same as ZoomX.

The honest performance question

The Vaporfly's carbon plate and ZoomX combination is specifically designed to reduce the energy cost of running at race pace. At elite and sub-elite levels, this is measurable. At recreational pace, the difference narrows — but the Vaporfly is still a more propulsive ride at sustained effort.

Verdict

Vaporfly if you are competing at sub-elite level and race-day performance is the priority. Endorphin Speed if you want a fast shoe at a justifiable price. The Speed is not worse in absolute terms — it is a different shoe at a different price for a different runner.
