Saucony vs ASICS: which running brand is right for you?

The short answer: ASICS and Saucony are both serious running brands with strong performance heritage. ASICS has broader name recognition in the UK. Saucony tends to have more responsive foam technology at equivalent price points. Both brands make excellent stability and neutral options.

Heritage

ASICS was founded in Japan in 1949. Saucony was founded in the United States in 1898. Both have been making running shoes for long enough that their reputations are built on product, not marketing.

Foam comparison

ASICS uses FF BLAST foam across much of their current range. Saucony uses PWRRUN. Both are proprietary formulations engineered for cushion and energy return. In running specialist communities, PWRRUN is generally considered more responsive than standard FF BLAST. ASICS' premium FF BLAST+ is closer in character to Saucony's PWRRUN+.
