What is SPEEDROLL? Saucony's geometry explained

The short answer: SPEEDROLL is Saucony's term for a specific midsole geometry — a rocker-style curve built into the sole of the shoe that propels the foot through the gait cycle. Rather than a flat sole that requires the runner to push actively from toe-off, the curved geometry assists the forward rolling motion.

What it does

The SPEEDROLL geometry positions the widest part of the midsole behind the ball of the foot. As the runner's weight moves forward, the geometry encourages a smooth, efficient roll from landing to push-off. The effect is a shoe that feels like it is helping you move forward at pace rather than requiring you to generate all the propulsion yourself.

Which shoes have SPEEDROLL

SPEEDROLL geometry is used primarily in the Endorphin series — Speed and Pro. It works in combination with the nylon or carbon plate to create the characteristic fast feel of the Endorphin range.

The difference from Hoka's Meta-Rocker

Both are rocker geometries. Hoka's Meta-Rocker is more pronounced and operates at easy pace to create a smooth, effortless roll. SPEEDROLL is more subtle and becomes most effective at race or tempo pace. The Endorphin Speed at easy pace feels different from the Endorphin Speed at tempo pace — SPEEDROLL is pace-sensitive.
